FAQ
Q: Is your floor system quiet?
A: No floor system is completely silent but gluing and screwing your floor sheathing to your joists will minimize squeaks. In addition, gluing partition walls works well.
Q: Do I need a floor layout for my building permit?
A: Yes, you require a floor joist layout with all pertinent O.B.C./CCMC and manufacturer design information. We provide these at no charge.
Q: Can I install mechanical or plumbing through your product?
A: Yes, “knockout” holes are pre-designed in the web of each joist for electrical and plumbing. In addition, a hole-cutting chart is available for larger diameter holes for mechanical.
Q: Why engineered joists and not conventional lumber?
A: The central reason for engineered products is consistency in manufacturing. Conventional lumber may differ in strength and height but engineered joists are produced under stringent requirements and are 100 percent true in both height and strength.
Q: How can I assure a floor with no “bounce”?
A: There are several ways to ensure a comfortable floor system. Increasing sheathing thickness will improve overall performance; and gluing the sheathing to the top of the floor joist and strapping the underside will promote a better-feeling floor.
